Call for Entries: Designs for Development

Roots of Development, a nonprofit that helps impoverished communities in Haiti, is calling on designers to submit entries for the Designs for Development competition:

Winning designs will be printed on eco-friendly tote bags and sold online and at future Roots of Development events to help increase awareness of our organization locally and provide funding for our partnerships in Haiti. We are looking for designs that reflect our commitment to sustainable, community-driven development. There is a $1,000 prize for the winning entries in the categories below, as well as a $500 prize for the runner-up in each. Entries will be accepted until 11:59pm on Saturday, October 1, 2011.

The organization often uses storytelling and design to advance its mission and raise funds. For example, it hosted a fundraiser gallery show in New York City featuring Braden Summers’ photography exhibit of Haiti.
