This post is part of a series, Benevolent Local, that highlights upcoming events and projects based locally in Benevolent Media's home city of Washington, D.C.
WHAT: Graphic District is a mixed media art project that celebrates the holidays with a local twist and provides holiday shoppers with a local and conscious card selection at the Washington Project for the Arts gift shop, called Icebox, featuring crafts, jewelry, housewares and small works of art, all handmade by WPA member artists.
Fifteen percent of the sales from the Graphic District cards go to support House of Ruth, a domestic violence center. The cards, created by artist Candace Schilbli, are recyclable and combine the artist's contour works with inlays of local street art and graffiti. Designs and information can also be seen on the web at http://graphicdistrict.org/
