Update: Vote for "Rags to Pads" in $200,000 Filmmaker Competition

We have an update from filmmaker Chithra Jeyaram, the Grand Prize winner of Benevolent Media's inaugural Pitch Night:

Chithra Jeyaram's short film "Rags to Pads" is a semifinalist in the $200,000 Focus Forward Filmmaker Competition, a new series of 30 three-minute stories about innovative people who are reshaping the world through act or invention.

Her film tells the story of the monumental task undertaken by a man to address the dismal state of menstrual hygiene in India by inventing (and testing) a low-cost sanitary pad, with the potential for his business model to provide jobs for a million women.

The finalists will be announced on November 28. In mid-January, the esteemed Jury will choose the five films that will be awarded cash prizes at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, including the $100,000 Grand Prize.

In addition to the cash prizes, the ten films with the most votes will be honored as Audience Favorites.  To vote, look for the "vote" button in the right-hand corner of the video player.
